Wondering if internet and available information on Google and other search engines is slowly training our mind to dependent on it, giving us escape from using our brains to think? In schools, colleges, business schools or even in corporate, if you want to know about anything search on google and you get the answers readily available. Time constraints plays its own role, finish the work rather think over it. Meaningless action is given more importance than thinking.
The cut copy paste culture has seeped in everywhere. Children are getting used to the information, solutions and answers to all assignments available on one click. At very young age parents find the information for them and they copy the same. Later they become adept at finding information. People seem to have stopped thinking a fresh a idea or a different thoughts. More often the processing of information gathered is not happening.
At one time one could calculate verbally now we are dependent on calculating devices. Earlier we could remember whole lot of phone no.s, now if the cellphone is lost all no.s. are gone. Is similar phenomena happening with our brains , becoming dependent on ready-made answers and information. Our brain seems to be getting trained to find information rather than frame or develop our own answers or solutions. Will it be leading to a dull brain function over period of time, if we are over depending on the internet information ?
Is our educational system geared towards developing and asking questions which will drive individuals to comprehend, think and form independent views. Are we killing creativity through internet? In schools are we providing information which is readily available from different sources on internet or creating activities that would make individuals to use the information available and drive the individual to think and come up with unique solutions.
Wonder what is the level of impact? What are your views? Do you also see such phenomenon around you - the tendency to depend on the information and solutions available on the internet?
